Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy helps the body in a number of ways, including muscle relaxation, circulatory improvement, and the body’s relaxation response.

Massage can relax muscle tissue, which may lead to

  • Decreased nerve compression
  • Increased joint space
  • Relief of pain
  • Increased range of motion
    • Improved muscle tone
    • Improved posture
    • Improved athletic performance
    • Decreased risk of injury

massageMassage therapy may also improve circulation. Circulation is responsible for enhancing the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to muscle cells. It also helps to remove waste products. Therefore, the improved circulatory effects of massage may also have value in the treatment of some inflammatory conditions like arthritis.

Massage therapy is also beneficial for relaxation. Massage induces the relaxation response, resulting in:

    • lowering the heart rate
    • lowering the respiratory rate
    • lowering blood pressure
    • boosting the immune system
    • decreasing the physical effects of stress

    Sports massage

Sports massage recharges an athlete’s worn out muscles and improves athletic performance.

Utilizing a variety of techniques, the Van Ness Chiropractic massage therapists customize treatment sessions to match your athletic training demands. Should you have an event within 48 hours of your scheduled session, your therapist may use some circulatory massage and passive joint mobilization to make sure you have the range of motion you will need to avoid injury at your event. During your slower training times, your therapist may utilize more rehabilitative techniques to bring your body back from being worn down after more intense training periods.

    Myofascial release

Myofascial release is a manual massage technique that stretches the fascia and releases the bonds between fascia, muscles, and bones. When the fascia is manipulated, the connective tissue fibers of a person’s body are reorganized into a more flexible and functional fashion.

“Fascia” is a band or sheet of connective material. It is located between the skin and the underlying structure of muscle and bone and covers and connects the muscles, organs, and skeletal structures in the body. Muscle and fascia together form the myofascial system.

Injuries, stress, inflammation, trauma, and poor posture can cause restriction to fascia, and, since fascia is interconnected, restriction in one place leads to tightness and restriction in others.

The goal with myofascial release is to eliminate pain while increasing the range of motion and balancing ability of the body. By releasing fascial restriction, connective tissue is restored to health.

I’ve dealt with lower back pain for many years. After having 2 kids in 2 years it became too much and I went to a back pain doctor who put me through 5 weeks of physical therapy. Unfortunately that didn’t work and was very frustrating because I really worked hard at it, stopped running and would do the daily recommended exercises and stretches. My wonderful neighbor recommended I come here and within my first appointment I left feeling much better! Im excited for me new health journey with Van Ness Chiropractic!

I’ve been to many chiropractors for upper back and neck issues and Van Ness Chiropractic is the best! Dr. Jeff and Dr. Rani are amazing! I went in with terrible pain and they had me feeling better in no time. The office is very relaxing and everyone is so friendly and kind. Scheduling is always easy, even when I need care last minute, they alway make time for me! I always look forward to all my visits with the team!

After rounds and rounds at many other chiropractors with no success, I was referred to Van Ness Chiro! The doctors listen to your concerns and address them accordingly. I have been an avid patient for almost a year and every adjustment has been different! This speaks volumes as they truly adjust what is necessary versus the “basic” for everyone. I have also thoroughly enjoyed the additional services that are offered such as electro therapy (included with you adjustment), acupuncture, cupping and massage! The office staff is also very understanding and accommodating! 100% recommend!

Dr. Jeff Parkin & Dr. Rani Sabri are amazing! This is my first chiropractic experience & I would recommend Van Ness Chiropractic to anyone. The atmosphere in the office is completely relaxing. I look forward to each visit. I've also tried the acupuncture sessions and truly love them. Leaving each session, I feel relaxed, renewed & rejuvenated!

Van Ness Chiropractic is a place that cares for its’ patients like they are family. I’ve had many freak accidents and have called them first for help. Each provider wants to help you be at your best, and it’s rare these days to feel cared for after leaving the doctor. So grateful for them!

Dr. Van Ness is very knowledgeable, professional has kept me moving without pain. Everyone in the practice is friendly and caring. I appreciate that they offer alternative remedies, such as dry needling to alleviate sports injuries. Thank you Dr. Rani! I highly recommend the practice.

I can't say enough about Dr. Jason Van Ness and the team at Van Ness Chiropractic! When people ask if I know a good Chiropractor in town, without hesitation, I recommend Van Ness Chiropractic. Not only for "fixing" what's broken, but for wellness maintenance, too. I see people in the office ranging from babies to elderly, athletes of all kinds, people who travel far and wide and make time, when in town, to visit Dr. Van Ness. Van Ness Chiropractic offers a vainly of services and is not limited to Chiropractic care. Besides my regular Chiropractic visits, I have taken advantage of Acupuncture and Massage Therapy. My quality of life is enriched by regular visits to Dr. Jason Van Ness and his team!Stop by and meet the team...you'll be thankful you did.

Dr.Van Ness has built himself a great place for health. I’ve been seeing him since he did a residency with Dr.Cox, late 1990s. As a legacy patient he has always kept me straight. He even came in on a weekend to assist my wife with an issue. His place isn’t just straightening crooked people. He treats young athletes to the “ole guys” equally. His center of health has a variety of therapists to get you the proper care you want.
